VanguardOphir dates its charter to 2108. Its blood is older. The organism now called VOG was assembled, unknowingly, from three twenty-first-century houses: a continental everything-store that had perfected the movement of goods and people as interchangeable freight; a search-and-surveillance monopoly that had learned to price human attention to the cent; and a private launch concern that turned the road to orbit into a toll it alone collected.
The founding lesson of the age was taught in 2025 and 2026, when the technology sector purged its workforce in synchronized waves and found the market rewarded the culling. Headcount was reclassified from capability to liability; severance became 'transition credit'; the surviving employee was measured only by output-per-head. VanguardOphir did not invent this arithmetic. It kept the receipts, and would one day scale it to a hundred worlds.
